Makenzie explained her reasons in Facebook post. She wrote, the service took them 20 minutes to get water and another 40 minutes for their appetizers and another 20 for the entrée. She added that people were making fun of the service but she understood that the problem of the restaurant was shortage of staff. She discussed with her partner about how tough the waiters had it in there. They remembered their days of waiting tables to earn the tips. They then wrote a message on the bill for the waiter and left before he could see it. She then posted the image on her Facebook account to remind everyone to think before judging others.

They wrote on the note that they had been in those shoes.
