Take for example, people who believe that women who are 200+ pounds should not wear certain things because they look terrible in them. Because sweeping generalisations are always the way forward…

Well, Sara Petty has something to say to those people, and she did it in a way that even the darkest corners of the internet can understand – with pictures.

She began her project by searching Twitter for the term “200+ pounds bikini” and copied tweets that say larger ladies should not wear particular articles of clothing such as bikinis, crop tops and asset shorts. Next she shared snaps of herself wearing the fuck out of “unsuitable” outfits, accompanied by the message “Girls: Wear whatever the hell you want.” Right on!

Here she is rocking a crop top.

And some asset shorts.

And finally, leggings.

After posting the pictures, Sara got numerous likes and retweets, as well as tons of positive comments from other women, she said:

“I’ve gotten my fair share of body-shamers and haters and the occasional crude sexual comment, but the responses have been overwhelmingly positive. Girls have said I inspired them to wear what outfits they would have been scared to wear or that they felt more confident in their bodies after seeing the tweet.”

And even though her posts have inspired others, it’s renewed love for her own form that Sara has found most rewarding.

“The post helped me become a little bit more OK with seeing that number on the scale, and I hoped that it would help other girls, too,” Petty said. “I hope that my post moved us just one step closer to being a society where girls can wear what they please without being afraid of ridicule.”

You do you girl!
